Tutorials - Tool Overview

A lot of locksmith products are well made and serve their purpose in aiding us in opening locks, others however are not worth the time or energy for the results they yield. Here along side each product besides the bare facts we have a few comments regarding the specifics of using these tools with success. At the tail end of this tutorial there are also products that we do not carry, and discourage purchasing them anywhere else, as they do not perform very well.

Standard Lock-Pick Gun
Those wanting to open locks as quick as possible, without the use of dynamite buy the lock-pick gun. This non-electric tool features a snap-action trigger, that within a few clicks sets all the pins inside the lock. Lighter than usual pressure on the tension wrench is required, this is important to experience success with the pick gun.

One must be careful however, not to use this tool on a lock too many times, as it is one of the few tools we will recommend that over time could potentially damage the lock. When used too many times the pins can actually shoot out of the cylinder casing. All in all a great tool for fast entry.

Warded Padlock Keys
There are series of padlocks manufactured by both Master and several off-brands that are known as warded locks. These locks cannot be bypassed with a normal picking set, however this master set of five keys will open all warded locks.

Simply insert a key into the lock and gently turn the key from side to side, the lock will release if that is the correct key. If the lock does not open just try each of the remaining four keys until the lock opens. Warded locks are common for both residential and commercial use.
