Lock Picking Techniques
Lock picking is the art of opening a lock without damaging the lock and without using the correct key. Lock picking is something of an underground hobby for many, and at Lockpicksonline we can tell you from experience that once you try it, you soon may become addicted! That being said, lock picking is something that you learn through practice and patience. Get Successful Quickly For people just starting out, there are certain lock picking techniques you can use to help you get successful more quickly. For starters, it's important to know how locks function. There are many resources for understanding how pin cylinder locks operate that can be found online. Once you've gotten a basic understanding of pins, shear lines and plugs, you're ready to get started. We suggest you read our lock picking tutorials created by our master lock picker. In the tutorials, you'll learn about the technique of inserting a tension wrench into the keyhole before inserting the pick. Our master lock picker always stresses the importance of applying light pressure to the wrench, as too much pressure is a common cause of not being able to open a lock. Another technique we often suggest is to "scrub" the pins. This means, basically, to use your pick to scrub back and forth over the pins. Scrubbing is a good exercise to practice because it will teach you how to recognize the correct amount of pressure needed. Check out our tutorials for more helpful techniques, including advanced lock picking solutions, warded locks, and using a slim jim.
